In the inner most parts of Memphis, Tennessee, the price is high for soul winning. In neighborhoods such as Binghampton and Orange Mound, which frequent the lyrics of gangster-rap albums, the price of souls is too high for even the self proclaimed 'Jesus Freak' to walk down the street. They are afraid of getting pistol whipped for wearing the wrong colors. They are afraid of witnessing to a man standing on a corner because he might be, and probably is, packin' some heat. Sounds like the Lord would have to send in an army. Well, guess what -- he already did -- and it is called Memphis International Church.

When working in a environment that is as spiritually volatile as the inner cities of Memphis, it's not easy to see beyond the gang members smoking weed on the sidewalk, and the prostitutes selling themselves in the street, but who ever said being a warrior was easy? It takes guts to venture beyond those forward facing sins to see what is on the inside of the inner city. Memphis International Church has breached the borders of these neighborhoods, and found a need for the love of Jesus that is so great, it is nearly impossible to put into words. Some might describe the environment as dirty, desperate, helpless, hurting, and hungry.

Pastor Craig McGee planted this work five years ago, starting with only a vision. Through sweat, tears and whole lot of praying he has grown his army into a strong force to be reckoned with. Last year, Memphis International Church gave away hundreds of thousands of pounds of clothes and house wares away. They ministered to thousands of children living in the Memphis housing projects. They handed out hundreds of thousands of pounds of groceries to starving families and provided transportation to and from church services for those unable to drive. They also provided over one million meals to the hungry. All of these accomplishments took an enormous amount of work, and came at a high price, but the payoff was truly immeasurable. Through all of M.I.C.'s ministries in this past year, thousands of souls have come to know the Lord.

Memphis International Church is considered a reliable resource in the city by several assistance agencies. People are referred to M.I.C. for food, clothing, and Christian counseling by local government agencies and other area churches.
